About The U-Turn Club
The U-turn is the first move every reactive-dog owner learns: see the dog, turn, walk the other way. It's also how most of us live: checking corners, hiding behind parked cars, walking at odd hours.
The U-Turn Club exists because owners of reactive dogs say the same things in the same words. "I have no life." "He lunges at every dog we pass." "It's incredibly lonely."
We write plain, short plans for the walk itself: what to do when a dog appears, when an off-leash dog runs at you, when a stranger won't listen, and how to tell whether things are getting better. The sections are named after the questions owners ask, and you can read any of our guides in one sitting.
What we are not
- We are not veterinarians, and nothing here is medical advice. Anything about pain, health or medication belongs to your vet.
- We are not a substitute for a certified behavior professional. If your dog has bitten, if you're frightened, or if there are children in the home, get professional help and use our plans alongside it.
- We make no promise about how any dog will turn out. Dogs differ. Anyone who guarantees a result is selling something.
